Questions
Any other questions, contact us.
Will my child get a part?
Yes. Everyone in the company is in every show. We don’t audition for roles, we don’t cut anyone, and we don’t hand the lead to one kid and a tree to another. Parts get shaped around the company we have.
What if my child has never done this before?
Most of our company started with no experience at all. Some of them now have scholarships. Some are heading to drama school. Most just love their weekly session. All of those are fine outcomes.
What if my child wants to act professionally?
Training is the priority. All of our young actors work with professionals in the business who can give real advice and coaching. We also work closely with The Young Actors Agency and, while we don’t guarantee inclusion, we can recommend our young actors to give them a better chance.
What if my child just wants to have fun?
Also fine. Acting taken seriously turns out to be more fun than acting taken trivially. The teenagers who show up for the social side usually end up hooked on the work. The ones who come for the work tend to find the friendships along the way.
Why aren’t you cheaper?
The people teaching are working professionals on professional rates, the groups are small, and the venues are real. We value what we do and, as a small company of actors capped at 16 per group, we believe this is excellent value for money.
What’s the difference between Company and Studio?
Company (Years 7–10) is about ensemble, devising new work, finding your voice. Studio (Years 11–13) is for older teenagers thinking seriously about drama school or a professional pathway.
Do you offer LAMDA classes?
Yes, on request. LAMDA sits on top of the weekly classes. If it’s something you’re interested in, get in touch and we can talk through the options.
Do you do musical theatre?
Yes, on Wednesday evenings in Hove. We teach it the way we teach acting: character first, with song and dance as ways of telling the story, not the point of the exercise. See Also at YAG.
Do you offer classes for younger children?
Our main focus is teenagers, but we have long-running groups for younger actors in Years 4–6 that are still going. See Also at YAG.
Can my child try before committing?
Yes. Come along for a taster session first. If your child doesn’t join, there’s no charge. If they do, the taster sits within that term’s fees. Get in touch and we’ll find a session that works.
What if we can’t afford the full fee?
A small number of half-scholarships are available each term. Drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do.
Could I buy a franchise and run a group near me?
Yes. See the Franchise page for the full picture.
